The Chalk Man by C J Tudor - Book Review
In 1986, Eddie and his friends are just kids on the verge of adolescence. They spend their days biking around their sleepy English village and looking for any taste of excitement they can get. The chalk men are their secret code: little chalk stick figures they leave for one another as messages only they can understand. But then a mysterious chalk man leads them right to a dismembered body, and nothing is ever the same.
In 2016, Eddie is fully grown, and thinks he's put his past behind him. But then he gets a letter in the mail, containing a single chalk stick figure. When it turns out that his friends got the same message, they think it could be a prank . . . until one of them turns up dead.
That's when Eddie realizes that saving himself means finally figuring out what really happened all those years ago.

A fast paced thriller that will have you guessing til the very end!
This story follows a group of friends in two different timelines, present day & their childhood. It is fast paced & well written with awesome character development. It kind of reminds me of Stephen King's it with the whole duo timeline & theme of a situation that bonds a group of friends in childhood then follows them in to adulthood. Yet it is not similar at the same time as reads as more of a thriller than horror for me. After going into this book totally blind & actually buying the book solely for the fact that their is stick men printed on the paper edges I was not disappointed in the slightest apart from the fact that I didn't pick it up sooner!
Can't fault this book in any way.
So if your looking for a fast paced thriller with a wee bit of gore then this is the book for you.
Until next time happy reading bookworms!
